AR Blue Clean AR383 Pressure Washer Review
It’s Saturday morning and nice outside. You step out on the porch with your coffee, look around, what do you see? If your house is more than 4 days old, like mine, you probably have a stained driveway, a dirty fence, or a deck that needs cleaning. Or, maybe you have all 3 and more.
This model is the best selling pressure washer on Amazon right now, it dwarfs second place. How does it stack up though? What do people like or dislike about it?
In this AR Blue Clean AR383 pressure washer review, we are going to try and provide you with some answers and information so that you can make an informed decision. The AR383 may not be the one for you so make sure you check everything.
With that, let’s get to it.

Pressure & Volume
After connecting the hose, purging the air, running a million extension cords to it, I finally fired it off
and got started. And it didn’t do poop. Helpful. The discharge pressure was like 500 psi! What is this, a garden hose?
The AR Blue Clean AR383 puts out high pressure water at 1900 psi, more than enough to clean almost anything. The pressure is non-adjustable so keep that in mind. If it’s running and you pull the trigger – 1900 psi.
It does have an adjustable jet nozzle though. You can manage the pressure two ways – 1) you can change the distance from the surface, the further away you are, the less pressure, and 2) by adjusting the spray pattern, the wider the spray, the less pressure.
The flow rate on the AR383 pressure washer is 1.5 gpm (gallons per minute) which is about average for
electric pressure washers. Since the unit is controlled by the trigger, this unit is more efficient since it
doesn’t waste water.
Quit looking out from your back porch and cringing at the green stuff on your fence. Stop being afraid to go out on your deck barefooted because of the bird poop and peeling paint.
Use the foam dispenser with a wide spray to make your car and tires look new. Protect electronic components and clean the gunk and grease off your engine.
A driveway, sidewalk, or fence that has just been pressure washed looks new, crisp, clean. It makes you feel like you accomplished something.
It should be obvious, the Blue Clean AR383 pressure washer is versatile. You can clean:
- Siding – wood, vinyl, brick
- Roofs & Awnings – doesn’t destroy siding or shingles
- Concrete & Patios
- Lawn Furniture
- Vehicles, Mowers, & Yard Equipment
It also comes with a lengthy power cord at 30 ft.
This gives the user quite a range of mobility. You can be 30 feet from an outlet (+ an extension cord) and 20 feet from your water source. Set up your machine out of the way and off to the side and get to work! Rarely should you have to move it.
The AR383 is the best selling pressure washer on Amazon despite having average specs. The reason it’s #1 is probably due to the ease of use, wide range of applications, and the price.
The motor for the pump is rated at 1.5 horsepower and uses 120V electricity. It also uses a 14 amp circuit.
One question I noticed a lot while doing research for the AR383 pressure washer review is what power source did it use, 120V or 220V, and could it be interchanged?
According to the manufacturer, it ONLY uses 120V. This means you can plug it into any standard U.S. home outlet at least. For the rest of the world… no idea. You guys have electricity? I kid.
The AR383 is average sized as far as dimensions go. If anything it is slightly SMALLER than others. It is
shorter than most but some of its footprint measurements are a couple inches larger than others. It is on the lighter end of pressure washers of this class.
The AR Blue Clean AR383 lists a couple features. Most seem fairly standard for pressure washers but we will list and describe a few of them for this review.
The AR383 features:
Annovi Reverberi Triplex Plunger Pump
Comes equipped with a three axial piston pump, and a long lasting induction motor. If you go to the AR Blue site, they list their different pump styles and applications.
The triplex plunger pumps are described as being heavy duty and long lasting. They have a wide range of applications including pressure washers and car washes.
Axial Wobble Plate
This should cut down on the wear and tear of your pump and motor by reducing the amount of vibration and thrust it feels while working. The constant on and off of the pump causes a lot of repeated forces to be created. An axial wobble plate absorbs some of that and tries to minimize the impact.
Total Stop System (TSS)
Power to the washer is controlled by the trigger. You control the trigger. Again, this improves the
efficiency of the machine by wasting less water while it’s sitting there. Nice little benefit.
The AR383 has a newer modification that I haven’t really seen before. It has a hose reel built in to it with a hand crank for storage.
The purpose is to to keep the hose neat and tidy, basically out of your way. This feature has gotten mixed reviews though. Some users said the hose is not flexible enough to make using the reel worthwhile. In some of the comments from consumers, they stated it was easier to coil the hose and hang it from the unit. The manufacturer says to only use the hose reel for storage purposes.
It has an automatic safety valve for over pressure conditions and also has a pressure shutoff at the pump head. This is useful for when you are doing a lot of starting and stopping while blasting.
Like, if you are pressure washing your deck or fence, you will have fence or deck boards. Maybe you are doing them one at a time and walking end to end. When you get to the end of one and release the trigger, the AR383 will build up pressure to the set point and then automatically shut off, like most pressure washers, to prevent over pressurization.
Of course it has a protected plug mold since you will be working with water and electricity and will most likely be outside. Hey, it’s for your protection.
If a pressure washer DIDN’T have a gfci plug, I’d be nervous.
One recommended extra accessory is a brass swivel hose fitting. These are available for like $8 and will eliminate the chance of a leak from where your water supply connects to your pressure washer. You can stick with the plastic fitting that comes installed or you can upgrade. Some people wait, others don’t and just get it when they order the washer. Completely up to you.
Wondering just what accessories there are for the AR383?
You can view the accessories available using this link: AR Pressure Washer Kits
Directly from the manufacturers website:
This product is under warranty to the original retail consumer against defects in material and workmanship for a period of 1 (one) year and is a complete “bumper to bumper” warranty including the spray gun, the high pressure hose and all accessories from the date of purchase. The warranty is not transferable or assignable. This warranty covers replacement parts.
If you are concerned about the quality or warranty on this machine, don’t be. The warranty and customer service angles were often part of the positive reviews.
Most people were pleasantly shocked at the customer service, the warranty, and the response time. Quite impressive to read actually, usually it’s the opposite.
Pros & Cons
Based on the number of positive reviews the AR383 pressure washer has, consumers have basically named it their favorite. There were several things people liked but I notced there were a couple that kept getting mentioned. In no order:
Lightweight, Easy To Move
Wide Variety of Uses
It has a variety of included attachments to tackle almost all jobs around the home.
One nice feature is the adjustable spray tip on the wide angle wand.
The unit has a lot of power for an electrical pressure washer, more than enough.
On Board Storage
All accessories, the electrical cord, and the hose have a designated place right on the unit and they fit quiet nicely.
The year long bumper to bumper warranty was mentioned a lot as being a definite positive.
There sure were quite a few pros weren’t there? This doesn’t mean thought that this unit is all positive though. It’s just as important to point out any negatives in these pressure washer reviews so the decision you make is a wise one.
The cons on the AR383 mainly were:
The installed hose adapter is plastic. A few leaked water, some after several uses, some after a couple uses, and some straight away.
We talked about how to solve this, and it’s easy. Use the accessories link above and get a male to male brass hose adapter for cheap or go to your local home improvement store and get one. Problem solved.
The other main negative dealt with the spray hose. One consumer mentioned that the high pressure hose is made from a stiff plastic that tangles easily. I know exactly what they are talking about as I have the same problem with my pressure washer.
This issue is seen on probably most of them as they are all built with similar hoses. And they can be a pain. The easiest way to manage the hose is as you go. Don’t let it get tangled as you work.
The AR Blue Clean AR383 has earned a 4.1 star rating on Amazon with nearly 1700 reviews! Dang. It is the #1 best selling pressure washer they have. Of the 1700 reviews, over half were 5 stars, the next 500 reviews were 4 star. Must be a reason right?
